History of the Boat Parade

In 1989 Jim Hussmann and a couple of others formed a committee and started the Venice Christmas Boat Parade. They over came a lot of obstacles but on the first Saturday in December 41 boats, decorated in holiday theme completed the parade route.

The parade has continued annually since that time with the decorated boats becoming more spectacular every year. The commitment of the boaters is appreciated by young and old who cheer them on with applause and whistles the entire route.

Local sponsors enable the Boat Parade Committee to fund youth related boating activities as well as a scholarship fund to support interest in the marine sciences.
Venice, with it’s intercoastal waterway, offers a superb area for viewing a parade of this sort. Viewers line the waterway without fear of being on someone’s private property.

If you have never viewed our parade, make this year your first. If you have a boat join us in putting on a show for the community.
No boat is too small!!!
